Theo sat in his mama’s lap, grinning at her and running his hands through her hair. “Theo!” I called, “Lean in close to mama and whisper a secret in her ear!” And so he leaned in close to Mary, grinning a mischievous smirk, then stuck out his tongue and licked the entire side of her face before erupting in laughter. A total four year old boy, right?
Sometimes kiddos put their own spin on the directions I offer, but I don’t think Mary was really even phased by it. We spent our afternoon running around the American Visionary Art Museum in Federal Hill, and I wish I could say Theo’s tongue did not sneak attack his parents after that… but that would be untrue. I loved photographing this sweet, loving family. Theo has so much good, wild boy energy that’s a lot of fun and totally unique to preschool aged boys.
