I moved closer to focus in on the two littlest H boys and in the most perfect succession of frames, I first caught Ben’s mischievous grin, dead on. In the second frame, he turned his face, tongue sticking out, toward his little brother Owen. In the final frame, Ben’s tongue made contact with the side of his unsuspecting little brother’s face. Ben wasn’t facing the camera in that last frame of his stealth face licking, but you can still sense his satisfaction and pride at pulling off his sneaky attack. When you scroll down for the pictures, you’ll know undoubtedly what I’m talking about.
I think it was the first week of June and I put out a bit of an emergency call for a family to participate in a family session to wrap up my promotional film the following Saturday. Literally like seven days before said session needed to happen. I was kinda worried about finding a family to roll with the short notice and the handful of caveats I had, but my friend Katie rounded up her gang and came through in the most perfect way. Even though it was the last week of school for everyone, Katie and I were able to pull together styling for her family of six, most of which came from wardrobes they already had (which is proof that you don’t have to purchase new clothes for portraits!).
This is the third time I’ve photographed these boys, and it’s so fun to see how much they change in just a year or two. Owen was practically a baby when I met him, and now he’s a bonafide preschooler. Big brother Andrew had just started freshman year when we had our first session. He’s now an upperclassman, which, as he tells me, is when you can finally start taking fun classes in high school.
