Woohoo, you did it! You made it through the rollercoaster of a family photo session! You might be wondering what happens now while you wait for your images, so get ready because I’m going to walk you through my process!

The evening of our session, I import and back up your images to keep them safe. I save them in more than once place so that if technology goes wonky, your images are still protected.

Then, I wait. I wait at least two days, even though part of me is dying to start digging in. Why? It’s simple – I like to approach editing your images with fresh eyes.

After that, the editing process begins. I start by looking through your images, eliminating any repeats. In your images, I look for the obvious choices, but I also look for the in between moments and the little details that help tell your family’s story. Once I’ve culled the images down to the best, I then start the editing process. This includes possibly eliminating distracting items like a sign, cropping an image for a slightly different feel, and enhancing the color and vibrancy of your images.

The Online Gallery

When you booked your family session with Niki Jones Photography, an online gallery was brought to life. This password protected gallery is where you’ll first fall in love with your images. Inside your gallery, you’ll be able to download your images, either all at once or one at a time. I recommend doing this on a computer for the sake of space, and back up your images in a safe place, such as a secondary harddrive or Google Drive. Be sure to download and back up your images by the expiration date noted on your gallery home page.

Your Photo Album

Once your images are in your hands, I start working on your complimentary photo album. I’m a firm believer in printing your images. Yes, it’s nice to share them digitally and keep a couple on your phone, but your family’s images deserve to live beyond the confines of your device! This is why each family session comes with a custom, complimentary photo album that I take care of entirely. I’ll handle it all from design to ordering. You can expect your album to arrive, generally, within two weeks of receiving your gallery.
