Does the perfect playground exist?
As a parent, I know the struggle of finding a great playground—one that keeps the kids entertained, has enough shade to survive the warmer months, and (ideally) isn’t a total headache to navigate with a stroller. Some parks are worth the trip, and others? Not so much. So, I’ve put together a list of my favorite playgrounds in and around Baltimore County—places that are actually fun for kids and make life a little easier for parents.
1. Angel Park – Perry Hall, MD

- Huge, community-built playground with climbing structures, slides, and swings
- Rubberized surface (great for little ones)
- Fully enclosed with a fence
- Walking trails and picnic areas nearby
- Stroller-friendly paths
2. Annie’s Playground – Fallston, MD
📍 864 Smith Ln, Fallston, MD 21047
- Massive, castle-themed wooden playground
- Plenty of climbing structures, tunnels, and slides
- Nearby walking trail and open fields
- Covered pavilion and picnic tables
- Not fully enclosed, but spacious and easy to navigate
3. Lake Roland Park Playground – Towson, MD
📍 1000 Lakeside Dr, Baltimore, MD 21210
- Nature-inspired play area with climbing logs, balance beams, and a sandbox
- Stroller-friendly paved paths
- Located near Lake Roland for extra exploring
- Open grassy areas for picnics
- Restrooms available seasonally
4. Meadowood Regional Park – Lutherville-Timonium, MD

- Spacious playground with multiple play structures
- Swings, slides, and climbing areas for different age groups
- Stroller-friendly paved paths
- Large open fields for running and picnics
- Partially shaded with nearby restrooms
5. Oregon Ridge Park – Cockeysville, MD

- Fun, shaded playground with natural wood-themed structures
- Located near the Oregon Ridge Nature Center
- Hiking trails and open spaces for extra activities
- Picnic areas and restrooms available
6. Honeygo Run Regional Park – Perry Hall, MD

- Well-maintained playground with separate areas for younger and older kids
- Swings, slides, and climbing structures
- Walking trails and sports fields nearby
- Covered pavilion for picnics
- Restrooms available
7. Rockfield Park Playground – Bel Air, MD

- Colorful, inclusive playground with climbing features and swings
- Splash pad open in the summer
- Fenced-in play area for added safety
- Plenty of shade and seating for parents
- Restrooms on-site
8. Cromwell Valley Park – Towson, MD
📍 2002 Cromwell Bridge Rd, Parkville, MD 21234
- Not a traditional playground, but offers nature play and exploration
- Open fields and kid-friendly hiking trails
- Stroller-friendly in some areas, but best for older kids who love nature
- Restrooms available at the visitor center
9. Blandair Park Playground – Columbia, MD

- Huge, all-inclusive playground with interactive play zones
- Splash features, climbing structures, and swings
- Rubberized surface and shaded areas
- Fully enclosed for added safety

10. Northwest Regional Park (Ravens Playground) – Owings Mills, MD

- Ravens-themed playground with big slides and climbing walls
- Spacious play area with plenty of running space
- Turf surface, great for active play
- Covered picnic areas and walking trails nearby
- Restrooms available
