Why Spring is the Perfect Season for Family Photos in Baltimore
If you’ve been thinking about updating your family photos, spring is a great time to do it. The weather is finally warming up, the trees and flowers are coming back to life, and after months of being stuck inside, kids (and parents!) are so much happier being outdoors.
As a Baltimore family photographer, I love spring family photos because they have a relaxed, easygoing feel. No heavy coats, no sweaty summer heat—just beautiful, natural moments with your family.
Spring in Baltimore means cherry blossoms, tulips, and fresh green grass. Places like Patterson Park, Sherwood Gardens, and Cylburn Arboretum are full of soft, pastel colors that make family photos look extra dreamy—no fancy props needed.
Spring sessions mean no freezing noses (like winter) and no sweaty, sticky kids (like summer). Everyone’s more relaxed when they’re not worried about being too hot or too cold, which makes for more natural, happy photos.
With longer daylight hours, we have more options for golden hour sessions—aka that beautiful, soft light just before sunset. Whether your kids do better in the early evening or you prefer a morning session, spring gives us more flexibility than fall’s early sunsets.
If it’s been a while since your last session, spring is a great excuse to update your photos before summer vacations and end-of-school-year chaos set in. Bonus: they make great Mother’s Day gifts!
Fall is the busiest time for family photos, which means limited availability and crowded parks. Spring is much more relaxed, and you won’t have to worry about squeezing in a last-minute session before the holiday rush.
If you want those fresh, light, and joy-filled family photos this spring, let’s get your session booked before the blooms disappear!
