What to Wear for Your Baltimore Spring Family Photo Session

Wondering what to wear for your Baltimore spring photos? Don’t worry, you’re note alone. One of the biggest stressors before a photo session is, What the heck do we wear? If you’re staring at your closet thinking, “I have no idea what looks good together,” don’t worry—I’ve got you.

The key to great spring outfits is keeping things simple, comfortable, and coordinated (but not too matchy-matchy). Here’s what works best for Baltimore’s spring photo sessions.

1. Soft, Neutral Colors Always Win for Spring Family Photos

Spring is all about light, airy tones. Think soft blues, blush pinks, sage greens, creams, and warm neutrals. These colors blend beautifully with the cherry blossoms in Patterson Park or the tulips at Sherwood Gardens without clashing or looking too busy.

2. Light, Comfortable Fabrics are Your Friend

Baltimore’s spring weather is usually pretty mild, but a breezy day is always possible. Choosing flowy fabrics like cotton, linen, or chiffon makes your outfit feel effortless and adds a little movement to your photos. Moms—dresses with a little flow to them always photograph beautifully!

3. Layers = Smart & Stylish

Spring days can go from warm to chilly fast, so light layers are a great idea. A denim jacket, light cardigan, or scarf keeps you comfy and adds extra texture and interest to your photos.

4. Coordinate, Don’t Match

Instead of dressing everyone in the same color, choose a color palette that works well together. For example, if you’re wearing a floral dress with soft blues and pinks, your partner could wear a light blue button-down with khaki pants, and the kids could wear outfits that pull in similar colors. It looks natural and polished without being overdone.

5. Think About Comfort (Especially for Kids!)

Your kids will be running, playing, and moving during your session, so keep outfits comfortable and practical. Avoid stiff collars, itchy fabrics, or shoes that they hate wearing.

6. Don’t Forget the Shoes & Accessories

If we’re doing your session at Cromwell Valley Park or Canton Waterfront, you’ll probably be walking through grass or along trails, so pick shoes that make sense—neutral flats, sandals, or ankle boots work well. For accessories, simple is best: a hat, a delicate necklace, or a cute bow for little ones can add just the right touch.
