Newborn photography is a beautiful way to celebrate the birth of your new baby. As you search for the right newborn photographer for your family, there’s one major question you need to ask yourself:

Do I want my baby’s photos taken at home or at a studio?

In my humble opinion, a in home newborn photo session is the most ideal option.

In home newborn photo shoots are more comfortable

Why? Well first and foremost, by having your photo session in home, you’re eliminating a massive hurdle: getting everyone packed up and out of the house on time to get to a studio. Instead, I come to your home, allowing you to enjoy your morning together leading up our session. Your home is more familiar to everyone, which makes it more comforting.

At home newborn photography is more authentic

My main focus during your newborn session is the family connective and love. Being in your home allows me to observe your family in your safest place, seeing you as you truly are at your core. I’m able to incorporate personal elements of your home and family dynamic that are absent in a studio. In home photography ensures that you remember this fleeting moment in time as it was, imperfectly perfect.

In home newborn session are more meaningful down the line

This isn’t to say only in home photos are precious in the future – no matter which approach you choose, your baby’s pictures will only grow exponentially more precious as time passes. But, I do think there is something even sweeter about looking back at newborn photos 5, 10, 15 years into the future and also seeing the spot you spent countless hours nursing your baby. Or where you’d walk and bounce and shush during the sleepless nights your body ached for rest. Or where you’d fall into the safety of your partner’s arms after a particularly difficult day of motherhood and come undone, only to put yourself back together and do it all again the next day.
