Often times, when I share that I’m a family photographer, I get an array of excuses why someone hasn’t booked family photos. I get it, it’s easy to put off – “my kids aren’t little anymore,” “I have to lose the baby weight first,” “my family wouldn’t cooperate.”

Excuses, excuses! (I say this in teasingly!)

Your family doesn’t have to be a certain age, or look a certain way, or be anything but themselves.

Every family deserves to be documented

No family is perfect, and that’s a beautiful thing. Your family is beautiful and worthy of being documented, just as you are right now. I want to show you the beauty that inherently is your family and your story.

Babies don’t keep

One thing that continues to catch me by surprise as a mom is how quickly time passes. Your family changes so much year to year – welcoming new babies, toddlers becoming school aged kiddos, pre-teens becoming teenagers. It happens so fast. Taking the time for professional family photos can be a fun (yes, I said fun) and meaningful way to enjoy your family and document your life in an artistic way.

Moms deserve to be in the frame, too

Even if I weren’t a professional photographer, I’d still be the one taking most of the family photos/photos of our kids. I’d be largely absent from the physical proof of our family life. Is that true for you, too? But we deserve to be in the frame, too. Our kids deserve to have tangible proof and reminders of how deeply we love them, long after we’re gone.

So just do it!

Whether it’s me or another photographer, I encourage you to let go of the excuses to not book family photos. Make it a priority this year. Make the time for family photos.
