Best locations for a Maryland family photo session
One of my favorite things about Maryland is the diversity of stunning locations that provide the perfect backdrop for beautiful family photography sessions. From picturesque parks to historic landmarks, let’s explore some of the best places for a Maryland family photo session! I’m kind of picky about where we shoot because there are some elements that I always look for, but I promise that whatever style you’re looking for, I can recommend a beautiful place or two!
If you want a coastal, relaxing setting for your Maryland family photo session, the beach might be the right place for you! Consider the time of year and day of the week for your session – this type of location will definitely be more populated during a warm summer weekend. This doesn’t rule out a beach location, just something to keep in mind!
Examples: Downs Park, North Point State Park
If you’re a little more adventurous, a forested location could be a good fit for your family. This type of location typically involves a little bit of walking to get to the best spots, but that’s okay! We can still play and photograph along the way. Another beautiful perk of this type of location is the autumnal colors if that’s your jam.
Examples: Patapsco Valley State Park
Meadows offer a natural and picturesque setting with their wide expanses of tall grasses, wildflowers, and open spaces. The soft, gentle colors and textures of a meadow create a serene and ethereal backdrop for family photos. Meadows often have open skies and unobstructed views, allowing ample natural light to filter through. Meadows showcase beautiful seasonal changes, offering unique opportunities for family photography throughout the year.
Examples: Kinder Farm Park, Cromwell Valley Park
Urban locations allow for capturing the spirit of an urban lifestyle. Your family photos can reflect the energy, diversity, and excitement of city living. From enjoying a cup of coffee at a local café to exploring the vibrant streets, the urban setting offers opportunities to capture the urban lifestyle and the essence of your family’s relationship with the city. These elements can add a modern and dynamic touch to your family portraits, creating images that stand out and capture the essence of urban life.
Examples: Fells Point, Downtown Annapolis, Historic Ellicott City
