As an Annapolis preschool photographer, I’ve photographed hundreds of Annapolis area preschoolers! One thing I love sharing with schools and their community is that school photos don’t have to be awkward and boring. They can be fun, joyful, serious, and genuine. The best compliment I can get is when a parent emails me and says, “Wow, you really captured my child.”

My Approach as an Annapolis Preschool Photographer

I’ve been on the other side of school picture day as a pre-k teacher in a busy public school. Multiple classes in a large room at once, lots of flash, impersonable photographer kind of barking at kids. Kind of overwhelming and kind of cookie cutter.

I knew I wanted my approach to be different, and it is!

I just let the kids be who they are. It’s really quite that simple. I don’t set them up with strange backgrounds or props, or ask them to say cheese. Instead, I just hang out with them for a few minutes and snap away. And the end result is always gold. At this point in my school photography career, I’ve gotten countless emails from thrilled Annapolis parents commenting on how glad they are to really see their child in their school photos for once!
