As a Columbia, MD preschool photographer, I knew that I wanted to offer the schools I work with something different. I remember picture day when I was teaching a special education kindergarten class. I brought my students down to the gym, where the photo studio had set up a ton of equipment. Most of my students were a little nervous about it. When it was time to start individual pictures, the photographer barked some directions at the students, with little regard for the human they were photographing. The end result was usually a little disappointing.

There’s a better way to do school picture day, and I love getting to share this approach with local preschools in Columbia, MD.

My approach is personalized and I care about connecting with each student. I ensure they feel comfortable to be exactly who they are in the few minutes I have to photograph them. No “say cheese” and forced smiles. Just children, being genuinely themselves. My favorite email to get is when a parent says, “We love that you really captured our child as themselves.”

Literally the best.
