Getting ready for your Baltimore in home newborn photo session
So you’re all set on an in home newborn photo session – yay! I love cozy, snuggly in home sessions for newborn photography. If you’re stressing about getting ready for your session, this blog is for you. There isn’t a whole lot to do to get ready!
Getting ready for your Baltimore in home newborn photo session
Decide on what you’re wearing. This might seem like the most daunting part but it doesn’t have to be. Baby can be in a simple, fitted onesie. Fancy, busy outfits don’t photograph well. Go for simple. For mamas, I always recommend a flowy, feminine dress. Dresses are generally comfy for healing bodies but also add some visual interest to your photos and photograph really well. Littles can be in plain, classic options like a simple, sweet dress for sisters and a plain tee or sweater for brothers. I usually suggest something similar for dads. Plan for bare feet for everyone!
Gather any special items you’d like to include. This could be a handmade blanket from a family member or a particular swaddle.
Don’t stress-clean your house. I have two young kiddos and remember how intense the fourth trimester can be. Please don’t put pressure on yourself to make your home “photo ready.” When I arrive, I’ll check out the areas you have in mind (living room, master bedroom, and baby’s room are the usual spots) and if I need to spot tidy any areas, I can easily do so.
Make sure everyone is fed before I arrive. Well fed littles are (generally) happy littles! And don’t forget to feed yourself, too.
That’s really it. My goal is to not add stress to your lives or take a lot of time. I’ll be done in under two hours, and when all is said and done, you’ll have an album and gallery full of beautiful images to remember this sweet, wild whirlwind!
